Mirror mirror on the wall

It was a normal Friday in the school. Last period had just ended, and there was an SP club meeting after school. Elizabeth, as she did every day, was in the bathroom redoing her makeup. There were other girls there too, and they were just packing up. Since Elizabeth's professor had tried to lecture Elizabeth about daydreaming, Elizabeth had been late in getting there.
"Bye, Elizabeth." One of the two leaving girls said. Elizabeth waved with her free hand, and they left. She was the only one left in the bathroom. She returned her attention to the mirror, eyeing her lips where she was applying lipstick.
Only the lips she was putting makeup on weren't hers. They were too thin, surrounded by pale skin. Taken aback, Elizabeth lowered her brush and took a good look at the person in the mirror.
She had dark hair, bright red eyes, and a childish face.
Elizabeth was petrified. What was this? She made to scream, but the girl in the mirror extended her hands, clamped them over her mouth, and started to pull Elizabeth into the mirror!
Elizabeth, whose mind was running rampid, struggled and made a fuss. Her knees hit the the focet, and when she got very close to the mirror, she tried to push back against the wall.But the little girl succeeded, and Elizabeth was pulled from the mirror. Her shoes slid off her feet. One landed in the sink, the other just below it. Mary in the mirror, after successfully taking Elizabeth, left a tiny note stuffed in her shoe in the sink, and vanished.

Meanwhile, Nikki was the first in the SP club room. While waiting for the others, she set to doing her homework. Joey entered the room and stole the computer desk chair, spinning around in it absent mindedly. Oliver entered and sat on the couch, listening to his ipod. None of them knew what had transpired with Elizabeth and Mary yet.

Alice skipped into the room, humming softly to whatever music was coming from the panda-themed headphones she had on. She turned her ipod off and pulled her headphones down so they rested on her neck and shoulders, "Hi guys!" She chirped, sitting down on a couch.
Dominic came in a little after Nikki. He was flipping through a literature book on Shakespeare. There was a big, important exam on it that was coming up shortly and he was extremely determined to make an A.
Vince shuffled in and sat down next to Dominic. He waved, not wanted to say anything that would distract Dominic from his studies.
A teacher had kept Blair after class for of course, talking back. Blair stood, unmoved by whatever the teacher had to say.

"Hello!" Nikki said, upon seeing everyone arrive. "The only people we need to wait for now are Blair and Elizabeth--"
There was shuffling. The tiny window next to the door was being opened. Alas it was not a theif, but Kyle. Kyle crawled into the window as though this was completely normal behanvior and sat down next to Dominic, looking at the book. Upon reading the title he made a face and diverted his attention to the others.
"Hey! Look, it's the members who've already graduated." Joey said. Kyle pretened to bow. "Guilty as charged."
"have you seen Elizabeth or Blair?" Nikki asked the others students. Perhaps they had been called to speak to their teachers or something.

Blair thrust the door open with a grimace, "Damn that Mr. Hughes..." She then brightened her face up and smiled, "Hey guys!" She slung her backpack onto the floor and sat herself down.
Dominic put his book down. He took a deep breath and waved to everybody, "So we're waiting on Elizabeth?" He asked, looking at his watch. It had been 15 minutes since school ended.
Vince shrugged, "She's probably talking to one of her teachers." He suggested, stretching.
Alice nodded, "We have the same math teacher and the lesson today was hard. She probably came in after school for some extra help."

"Oh, hey Blair!" Kyle said, currently looking over Joey's shoulder to view his homework.
Nikki smiled it off. "Right! So, for today... we got a response from the government about the incident with the church and ball..." she reached into her pocket and read the letter once, set it on the table, and summarized its contents.
"The government has received the information of the new villains and will repair the damaged buildings... but if the situation gets out of hand again, they will force us to preform community service to cover the costs." Nikki left the note, in case anyone wished to confirm the contents. "So today's meeting is pretty simple.. we're stuck here until three. You can do homework or talk." Nikki said, fishing in her pocket. "The government also supplied a review of the other incident-- the forest. They haven't given me a file on the appearance of the blonde..." Nikki explained.

Blair smiled, "Hiya, Kyle." She said, moving to sit next to him. She rolled her eyes at the letter about the ball, "As if we knew that wizard boy could blow the place up with his mind!"
Alice tilted her head, "You mean that agent girl that we encountered a few weeks ago?" She asked.
Dominic looked around, "Well, it's been quite a while since we've seen her. We shouldn't let our guard down though. That's probably want she wants us to do."

Kyle shrugged. "Beats me. The government is messed up, anyway."
Nikki nodded. "Yes, her. I don't know what the government wants us to do about her. It's possible she was just acting out.. but let's not let our guard down."
Oliver scratched his nose. "I think the government should put a mini fridge in this room." he said.
"I second that notion!" Joey burst, raising his hand in the air.

Vince nodded, "Third!" He said, with a hopeful smile.
Dominic laughed, "That would be nice. The government probably would not want to pay for it. They hate paying for anything that deals with us."
Alice frowned, "Why?"
"We're the SPC. They made this club primarily so we can be their little junior workers. AKA slaves."
Blair nodded with a grimace, "We do the work that they are just too lazy/stupid to do."

"Or the work that requires powers..." Nikki sighed. "Well... perhaps we can ask them? Or we can save up money to buy one ourselves?" She offered.
Oliver's face conveyed the message that he didn't want to save up for anything. Nikki sighed and stood up, brushing herself off.
"I'll be right back." She said, exiting the room to go to the bathroom. She entered and initially found nothing wrong-- she missed the shoes on the sink completely. After she finished and went to wash up, however, she noticed the familiar sneakers of Elizabeth.
"What are Elizabeth's shoes doing here?" Nikki asked, looking under the stalls to see if she was in one. "Elizabeth?"
No responce. Nikki stretched and grabbed the shoes, examining them. She was going to leave them for Elizabeth's return, but she caught sight of the note. Nikki pulled it out and examined it.
'Miss me?' was scrawled in familiar handwriting. Nikki froze, immediatly making the connection. She took the shoes back to the clubroom, swallowing a lump in her throat.
"G-guys..." she said. "Mary took Elizabeth."
Joey's eyes widened as he looked at the shoes, and at the others as though they could clarify this.

Vince and Alice looked around, clearly confused, "Mary? Who's Mary?" Vince asked.
Blair froze and squinted, "Mary...we haven't seen her in so long." She said, denying that anything had even happened, though she knew something was very wrong.
Dominic's heart dropped. He swallowed, "Elizabeth...the mirror?"
Vince shifted in his seat, "Is anybody going to answer my question? Who is this Mary person?" He demanded.
Dominic shook his head in disbelief, "She's this girl we've had maybe a few run-ins with. She's super creepy and she is able to travel through the mirror world and kidnap people via mirror. Now apparently she has Elizabeth." He stood up.
"What?!?" Vince spat, "How are we going to get her back?!"

Nikki took a deep breath. "No, we haven't.. but this is undeniably her..." she held up the note. "I found Elizabeth's shoes near the bathroom mirror..." she pulled out a map from her bag. She always carried a map of the city for suprise mission purposes.
"Mary is the daughter of a government agent... she's got the nickname 'Bloody Mary'... i'm sure you've heard that myth." Joey explained. He grabbed his coat, preparing for the cool autumn weather.
Nikki looked at Vince. "We know where her parents live, we've dealt with her before. There's no guarentee she'll be home, though... be careful around mirriors from now on. There's another way to get her to come... you know the story, hold a candle in front of a mirror and chant 'Bloody Mary' three times fast. Mary always responds to that, she likes to pull pranks on daring kids."
Nikki stood and headed for the door. "It's time to pay Mr. Robinson a visit." She said. Oliver jumped up.
"Traveling through mirrors... there's an interesting ability." He said.

Dominic stuffed his Shakespeare book away and grabbed his keys, "Goodness knows where she put Elizabeth in the mirror world. We should be quick, so nothing bad happens." He said, pushing the door open.
Blair hopped up and jogged out the door and down the hallway.
Alice got up, still trying to take in all that just happened.
Vince looked around, frustrated, "And her parents just let her torment people?!"

Nikki headed down the hall, running her fingers through her hair. Nothing could be normal in life, could it? "Dominic, Kyle, do you have your cars here?" She asked.
"I walked." Kyle said. Since the supermarket was close to the school, he hadn't thought to take his car.
Joey shook his head. "Well, they're in denial. They don't believe Mary does it. It's like they have her on a pedistol." He scowled. "She's a sick girl with twisted definitions of fun."


Elizabeth shot up in her bed. Was that a dream? Being pulled into a mirror... that little girl's face...it must have been! After all, her alarm was buzzing lightly beside her bedstand. She must have just had a nightmare.
Elizabeth clothed herself normally.
The first odd thing she noticed was the beer on the table. Her mother and brother didn't drink, why was it here? Elizabeth blew it off, after all, her mother was intitled to a drink or two on occasion.
The second thing was all her friends in school. They seemed to think she was weird.
The third was the SP club. The first one she met was Nikki. The club meeting was at 2, and it was 2:20 when Elizabeth bumped into the small blonde.
"Sorry Nikki, why are you late too?" Elizabeth said. What she wasn't expecting was Nikki to shoot her head around, give Elizabeth a once over, and roll her eyes.
"Whatever. Just hurry up, i'm starting whether you're there or not."
Well. That was out of character.
Elizabeth entered the room. Most of the members were these. But they were all different. They looked the same, but something was off. It unnerved her.
"Do you all feel okay?" Elizabeth asked.
"Piss off, Elizabeth." Nikki snapped, adjusting her glasses. Elizabeth was too shocked to form a coherent sentance, and looked at everyone else in the room.

Dominic nodded, "I have my car. I can fit everybody. What is the Robinson's street number?" He asked, jumping into the driver's seat.
Blair crawled in the very back with no seats, since it was a jeep.
Alice and Vince hopped into the back seat.

Blair sat quietly in a corner, playing with her thumbs. She wore a modest sweater and jeans. "You should do what Nikki says...she can get harsh.." She spoke quietly.
Vince looked at Elizabeth and scoffed, rolling his eyes and putting his feet up on the seat next to him. He crossed his arms.
Dominic sat next to Nikki, carelessly texting away on his Blackberry.
Alice was dressed in a very plain manner. A green t-shirt with some black shorts. She was listening to music, but not the peaceful happy stuff she usually listened to. A loud, angry sounding guitar blasted from her headphones and she sat with a scowl and her arms crossed.

"They live at 523 Chestnut road." Nikki said, slipping into the passenger seat. She had files in her hands, and flipped through them, finding a file on Mary. "The house is huge, white, and victorian stylerd." She noted, eyeing the picture.
Joey took the remaning seat in the back. Oliver and Kyle both hoped into the back with Blair. Oliver folded his arms and looked behind the car. Kyle sat next to Blair, running fingers through his hair.


Elizabeth's eyebrow shot up with Blair's... dantiness. She was acting like Nikki would. And Vince's attitude was really pissing her off.
"What the hell are you scoffing at, Vince!" Elizabeth demanded. If there was one thing she hated, it was being belittled. From beside her came a sniffle.
"Don't fight! I hate fighting." That sounded like Oliver. Elizabeth looked back at him. Sure enough it was him, his hands pressed together. Oliver wore a shirt for once, and his hair was still that wild orange tinted red, but he looked nervous, and his purple eyes were watering.
"Since when did Oliver cry?" Elizabeth asked, bewildered.
"He's always been a crybaby." Joey snapped, looking up from his book. Wait, Joey was reading? "i'm trying to do my work for my honors English class, so shut up for like five minutes."
Joey was not that smart, no matter how hard he tried. Elizabeth, very confused, sank into the couch beside Blair. Looking to her left, she almost screamed. She hadn't noticed Kyle. He didn't look much different, but he wasn't as easy to notice. His hair was pulled into a ponytail. Around his neck was a cross necklace, and he wore a long sleeved sweatshirt. It was something about the air he emitted, though. It seemed classy for some reason. He had the air of a rich boy who hadn't worked a day in his life.
"You seem off today, Elizabeth." Kyle said. Even his tone seemed softer, more refined and less firtacious.
Elizabeth massaged her temples. She glared at the others, mostly Vince, throughly confused. Nikki glanced at Dominic's phone. "Who are you texting?" She inquired, crossing her legs.

Dominic sped off towards where he knew Chestnut road was. It actually wasn't too far from Blair's neighborhood.
Blair rested her feet on Kyle's leg's like it was nothing. The sound of Chestnut Road was familiar. That street was only a few blocks from her apartment. She shuddered; no sleep for her for the next week.
Vince fidgeted in his seat while consistently glancing out the window.
Alice patted his shoulder, "Don't worry, Vince! Elizabeth will be okay!" She cooed, not fully grasping Mary's power.

Blair pulled her knees up to her face, "We should probably start the meeting..." She squeaked.
Vince smirked, "I'm scoffing at you, woman." He spat, "Just sit down and stop questioning everybody like you own the place."
Dominic glanced at Elizabeth briefly and then back down at his phone, "Chick at school." He said, with a crooked smile.
Alice rolled her eyes at Elizabeth's questions, "Just sit down, you fucking prep." She growled, not making any motion to turn her music off.

Kyle lent back, ignoring Blair's feet on his legs. He rested his arms on either side of him as the truck trudged through the road. "Mmmm, a run-in with good old Mary. Excited?" He said. Oliver, who didn't know Mary and didn't really find himself very attached to Elizabeth, rested his elbow on the trucks side and indifferently watched as the scenery passed.
Joey looked out of the window, away from the others, with a troubled expression. The last time Mary had attacked it had been horrible. She had gone after the SP club members one by one. But he forced a smile and agreed with Alice.
"Yeah. It's easy to track Mary down. Sort of." He said.
Nikki watched as the large mansion came into view. Obviously, the robinsons lived in a very extravagant neighborhood.
"We're here." Nikki said, pointing Dominic in the right direction.


Elizabeth's face lit up with rage. Who did he think he was? He was so sweet before! She crossed her legs, looking to Blair and Kyle. Alice would never make a comment like that, would she? Elizabeth was very confused...
Something was wrong. Elizabeth wasn't stupid. She started to think, and ignored the odd people who she thought were her friends.
"What's there to start?" Nikki glared at Dominic's phone as though it were the plauge. "We all know that nothing interesting is happening. And I am not wasting my time saving some cat from a tree. All the government gives a shit about is that we show up."
Kyle fingered his cross. He gave Blair a smile. "Good attempt." he said. Oliver sniffled and crawled over to the couch.
Maybe this was a spell, by that witch! Or the wizard...
"Hey Nikki, what about the bad guys! You know, those wizards!"
Nikki, who was trying to spy on Dominic's message, was caught offguard and jumped back.
"What? oh, them. Haven't heard anything. The guy was at a church yesterday, though. Helping out or something."
Why would Roman the sadistic wizard help out at a church?
Elizabeth was very confused. "Are you all impostors?!" She demanded, shooting a glare at everyone, but mostly on Vince. Kyle looked offended, and shrank back. Oliver started to cry.

Alice nodded with a smile, "See? Everything's gonna be fine!" She cooed again, hopping out of the truck. She looked up at the mansion that was much larger than her in awe.
Dominic shuddered. Though the house was magnificent, he couldn't look at it that way knowing Mary lived there. He cleared his throat and stalled himself to the door.
Blair jumped out and cracked her knuckles as if she were about to fight with somebody.

Blair looked down at her lap, "Oh..." She gave a slight smile to Kyle, "Thanks.." She tweedled her thumbs.
Vince began to laugh, "Are you hearing this girl? Imposters!" He looked at Elizabeth with a degrading expression, "Do us all a favor and shut your yap."
Alice nodded to Vince and gave Elizabeth a stereotypical bitch face.
Dominic glanced at Nikki and shoved his phone into his pocket. He looked at everybody who was sitting down, "Yeah...so like, just sit here until 3 or whatever." He looked at his satchel that was currently an out-of-character mess. He sighed, refusing to touch whatever study material was inside.

Joey let himself out and sighed. "Here goes nothing." he said, walking to the door. Nikki followed suit. Oliver and Kyle jumped out of the back, standing behind Nikki at the door.
Nikki knocked.
The plump, ever smiling Mr. Robinson opened the door. He looked down at the SP club and smiled. "Hello! WHat can I do for you today?"
"Is Mary home?" Nikki asked. Mr. Robinson's face did not change.
"You are free to investigate again. It's only because of her power that she keeps getting blamed... my sweet angel wouldn't do anything.." He stepped aside, allowing them entry. Nikki forced a smile, staring at the others to warn them not to comment on what he said. "Mary's room is upstairs. Let's go."
Oliver headed up the stairs, his hands shoved in his pockets.
"They sure have her on a pedistol." He commented once Mr. Robinson was out of earshot. Kyle nodded, and opened the door to Mary's room. It was large, with a double bed in the center. It looked very simple. It was filled with mirrors.

Kyle lightly smiled back. Elizabeth narrowed her eyes.
"Well you're all acting weird! You're usually sweet!" She thrust her finger at Vince, "She's not usually a bitch!" She pointed at Nikki. "She's usually really tough and loud! And he's tough!" She pointed to Blair and Oliver, respectivly. "Kyle's usually a flirt, Dominic usually studies, Alice is usually nice, and Joey's usually an idiot!"
"Excuse me?" Joey snapped, slamming his book shut. "Insult me again, and I will strangle you, bitch." Joey rolled up his sleeve, his mechanical arm shining in the light. Elizabeth swallowed. Joey was never violent, either. She felt like crying, and her eyes started to water. Joey didn't seem bothered at all.

Blair scoffed, "If by sweet angel you mean creepy ass bitch, then you are correct." She muttered.
Dominic glared at Blair, "Don't make this harder than it needs to be."
Blair rolled her eyes and shuddered at the bedroom.
Vince marched in, "Show yourself, Mary!" He yelled.
Alice hid herself behind Blair and Joey. She was frightened at what this girl would look like.

Blair whimpered, "Stop being so mean to her, you guys!" She said hiding behind her knees.
Dominic let out a hearty laugh, "Are you insane? Alice isn't nice at all, Joey reads like a mother fucker, Blair is a wimp, and Kyle is just quiet." He said, ruffling his own hair.
Alice glared at Dominic's comment about her, "And Dominic over here is a womanizing slacker."
"Oh, shut up Alice. Dominic's a great man. He puts women in their places." Vince spat.
Alice got up, "I'll put you in your place if you don't shut the fuck up."

The room was quiet. Oliver stepped into the room and started looking round.
"She might be in the mirror world." Nikki said, staring into one of the large mirrors on Mary's wall.
"You know, if I didn't know any better, i'd think this was Kyle's room." Joey said, poking fun at Kyle's love of physical appearance.
"Ha ha ha, you're so funny Joey. How mny girls you got trailing after you with that sense of humor?" Kyle responded, turning towards the boy. But just as he finished speaking, there was a loud smash. Oliver had kicked a mirror, breaking it to shards.
"Oliver! Don't break the Robinson's property--" Nikki sid, but the damage was done.
"Just ransack her room. That'll make the little bitch come out." Oliver said. Somehow the feeling of the room became darker. Nikki swallowed a lump in her throat.
"I have a bad feeling..." she complained.


"Excuse me?" Nikki folded her arms. "Who's the leader here? A woman. You know where women's places are-- above men." Nikki crossed her legs and glared at Vince.
Elizabeth couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm going to the bathroom!" She ran towards the facilities, hiding her face.
Kyle sighed. Oliver sniffled. "Good ridance." Joey murmured, turning the page in his book. Elizabeth ran, her sock clad feet pounding on the ground. She reached the door, opened it, and went to look in the mirror.
Only there was no mirror. It was black. Like a black wall was over it.
"Figure out something is wrong?"
Elizabeth jumped at the voice. She turned. Mary Robinson stood behind her. She looked very scared, her legs crossed and arms hidden behind her back. "Something's wrong. I noticed it, too."
"What are you doing here?"
"I got sucked into the mirror, too. Didn't you notice it? I was in the bathroom in the normal world too... I was visiting my mom, a teacher."
Elizabeth didn't remember seeing anyone else, but didn't question the only person who seemed normal in this situation.
"It's probably a spell." Mary lied. "A spell that dragged us both here!"
Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah! That must be it! How can we stop it?"
Mary successfully hid the grin forming on her face.
"By killing the counterparts of your friends, of course. You need to fight them."
Elizabeth paled. "But--"
"They're not nice to you. Don't you think it would be a good idea to put them in their places?"
"How do you know so much?"
Mary sniffled. "Because my mom is a spellcaster. I've read her books. It's so scary, I didn't think she'd ever cast a spell on me, too."
Ohh. She was dealing with a witch. So the counterparts were probably illusions... "I'll go back to the clubroom." Elizabeth said.
"I'll help you kill them if you need it. i want to get out, too." Mary assured, waving to Elizbeth. Elizabeth left, heading back to the room. She didn't notice that Mary had shoes on her feet. To Elizabeth, it seemed a minor detail. Elizabeth moved back into the clubroom, eyeing them all. She didn't want to hurt them, they all looked like her friends, even if they were illusions... was that her only way out? Elizabeth didn't mention anything about her meeting with the little girl, whose name Elizabeth just remembered she forgot to ask for. Now, Elizabeth was composed, but deep in thought. Oliver looked at Elizabeth, then at the others.

Alice covered her face, "Oliver! Now she's going to be really mad and never give Elizabeth back!" Dominic sat on the girl's bed, "She'll come back eventually. Let's not do anything to piss her off." He said.
Vince paced around the girl's room, trying to ignore the multitude of mirrors surrounding them. It was quite unnerving.

Dominic swiped his phone from his pocket and began to type furiously, "Whatever."
When Elizabeth came back, Alice had sat down again and was listening to an even angrier sounding song. She faced away from everybody, a look of disgust on her face.

Oliver shrugged, and made to find another mirror to kick. He was about to kick one when a voice sounded out from just behind Joey and Alice.
"Break another one of my mirrors and i'll kill her."
Nikki whipped around, so did Oliver. Joey too looked behind him. In the largest mirror in the room, the one that was directly behind Alice, was a little girl. it looked almost painting like, but the girl in the mirror was blinking. Once she secured everyone's attention, she pulled a head of blonde from beside her.
Elizabeth came into view, Mary had her by her hair. A knife was pressed against the girls neck.
Of course, this was the mirror worlds Elizabeth. However she looked the exact same as the normal Elizabeth. Her clothes were different, but not dramatically so.
"Elizabeth!" Nikki said. "Please give her back!"
Mary smirked. "Why should I?"


Elizabeth sighed. "So.... how often do we fight villains?" She asked.
Nikki raised a brow. "When they show up. Duh."
Elizabeth huffed. She didn't know when a villain would show...

Vince stepped in front of the mirror, "What did she ever do to you?!" He shouted.
Alice's eyes widened at the sight of the girl. She hid behind Joey, her head peaking out next to his shoulder.
Blair stepped back to talk to Dominic, "We're going to have to go into the mirror world, aren't we?" She asked.
Dominic shrugged, "I'm not sure how this whole mirror thing works." He muttered back.

Blair kept checking the time, "I think it's almost time to go anyway.." She squeaked.
Dominic smiled, "It's about time!"
Alice couldn't hear a word that anybody was saying. She continued to calmly tap her foot to the music.

Mary shrugged. "She didn't do anything. I'm just bored."
"Get into the mirror world?" Oliver asked. "okay!"
He charged at the mirror Mary was in. He hit the glass, but did not go through. Stumbling, he fell back. Mary had a blank look all the while.
"No one but I can travel between the worlds." she said, pressing the knife closer to Elizabeth. She smiled. "But if you can find a way in, perhaps i'll consider returning the blonde?"
"Let-- me-- go!" Elizabeth reached over to claw at Mary's face. Annoyed, Mary pressed the knife against Elizabeth's throat, causing a small cut to appear. She gave Elizabeth one of the darkest looks possible. "Don't touch me."
Then, she smiled at the SP club. And vanished.
"We need to get in the world..." Nikki agreed. "I think that our best bet is magic... we can call Skiey for help." She said. Kyle nodded. "Yeah... or we can just go to Joey's to dig through Skiey's books. Then we can bother Skiey."
Joey nodded. "We can do that. We need to hurry, Mary probably is timing us or some crap." Joey said, grabbing Alice's hand reassuringly.

"Is it?" Elizabeth looked at her watch. It was 2:58. She stood, heading to the door. So... if she was going to kill them... she should take them one on one. There was no way she could fight them all now. She decided her first two targets to be Nikki and Vince-- the two who had treated her the worst. Alice was next on that list. "Can't we just leave early? I'm bored." Elizabeth said. Nikki looked at her nails.
"Fine, let's go." She agreed.
